The warm October days lured us to the charming vineyards of eastern Slovenia. We explored the region of Svečina, just north of Maribor, which is gifted with amazing sunny hills dotted with endless vineyards and the most romantic road with the shape of a heart!
It is simply stunning up there! No wonder the region attracts more and more wine & dine lovers, but also hikers and cyclists. A few years ago we have cycled the very recommendable Kungota cycling path and the local Tourist board of Svečina prepared in cooperation with the Austrian municipality of Ratsch an der Weinstrasse 3 different routes for nordic walking, which will lead you through the vineyards and across the courtyards of several winegrowing farms.
We weren't really active this time. We just indulged the warm autumn sun and the delights from the wine cellars :)
To put it short: Dreisibner has the most amazing view, Gaube has excellent food & wine, apart from great catering facilities Valdhuber and Jarc offer brand new rooms & apartments.
