Starting point:
From Bled follow signposts for Gorje and Pokljuka. Drive through villages Spodnje and Zgornje Gorje, then the road starts to ascend. On the main road towards Rudno Polje on Pokljuka pay attention to a large board for 'Bohinj' that points to the left. Do NOT turn towards Bohinj, but follow the main road forward and only a few meters later spot a small signpost for 'Lipanca', which directs you to the right onto a small forest road that is usually plowed during winter. Stay on this road for about 4.5 km to the first cleared parking lot at Zajavornik alpine meadow. Then proceed to the end of the road - Pri Rupah (at about 1350 m).

Description:
At the end of the road there is a wide plowed parking lot that can be quite full on weekends. This route is very popular and the path gets trodden quickly after the snowfall. From the parking lot head northwards through the forest. After less than one kilometer the path merges with the one leading from the first parking lot (at Zajavornik meadow). After that, a few hairpin turns lead to Lipanca alpine meadow with the popular mountain hut. Go left from there and proceed through a small valley to the north-west. Ascend to a mountain ridge through a sparse larch forest. Head to the right and arrive to the summit of Mrežce after a gentle ascent. This is probably the easiest way to get a close view to the highest Slovenian mountains in winter. Return down the same path.

The detour across Debeli vrh: Debeli vrh (1959 m) is the first 'noteworthy' summit west from Mrežce. It is not crowded at all since only a few backcountry skiers looking for some peace and quiet wander there. From the summit of Mrežce descend along the ridge to south-west. The path of your ascent turns left, but you keep on the right. A clear passage towards the rounded Debeli vrh opens in front of you. Follow the ridge throughout and ascend onto this very panoramic summit without any problems.
Descent: Head from the summit to the valley between Mrežce and Debeli vrh. Go along this valley to the south. Descend southwards until you reach a road (not plowed!). Turn left (to the east) and stay on the road for about 500 m to a sharp left turn. Then descend through the forest to the east and come to another road. Before long, you reach the parking lot 'Pri Rupah'. This descent is not a real treat for skiers, but it is still an interesting addition to the 'standard' route.
