Starting point:
If you come to Železniki from Škofja Loka you will come to the crossroad for Kropa. Continue on the main road and soon after you'll spot a signpost for Prtovč directing you to the right. Ascend up on an asphalt road to a parking lot by a church in Prtovč (1010 m), where it can be a problem finding a spot on weekends.

Description:
The described route is circular: Prtovč – Povden – Ratitovec – Razor – Prtovč. In Prtovč go left from the Partisan memorial and turn left between first houses onto a dirt road, which rises slowly through a beech forest to a saddle called 'Povden'. A wooden signpost directs you to the right there. Soon you come out of the forest to a grassy slope where the terrain gets steeper and endangered by avalanches! In a few hair-pins rise to a flatter top slope across which you soon reach the Krek hut. Immediately above the hut is 'Gladki vrh', the most visited summit of Ratitovec. Descend eastwards from the hut into a clear little valley called 'Razor' across a steep slope. Once you reach the forest follow the markings and keep right to Prtovč. The path across Razor is more popular. If you also wish to ascend across Razor as well, go right at the Partisan memorial in Prtovč and follow the markings throughout. This path is quickly traced after snowing.

Highest point:
Ratitovec (Gladki vrh): 1667 m

Duration:
Prtovč – Ratitovec (across Povden): 2.30 h
Ratitovec – Prtovč (across Razor): 1.30 h
Total: 4 h

Difficulty: 2

Skiing:
Typically we ski down the described path of descent (across Razor). After Razor valley you come into a forest and keep to the right. Follow the marked path until the end of the relatively steep slope which we cross to the right. There is a writing on a tree (if it is visible, at about 1250 altitude meters) that guides you to the left. Ski eastwards; cross two forest roads, turn right on the third one and return to Prtovč past a hunting hut. In case there is enough snow, you can continue to Podlonk village (and even to Dašnjica valley) from the hunting hut or Prtovč across meadows.
From Krek hut you can also ski southwards in the direction of the cargo-lift or down the above described direction of ascent. These slopes are steep and greatly endangered by avalanches. Go there only in great snow conditions and with adequate skiing skills.
Skiing difficulty: 2 (across Razor)
Skiing duration: ca. 45 min
