I could only wish for more weekends like this! Best company, alpine fairytale, fantastic farm stay and great food! It was a family gathering of 12 adults and 8 kiddies at the amazing Šenk homestead in Jezersko. Without a benefit of a doubt it is one of my favorite farm stays in Slovenia. Here's why: It has a top location with the best views. Their newly rebuilt guesthouse is so pleasant that you won't be bothered even if the weather is bad. The homestead has soul, history and extremely nice owners Polona and Drejc. The surroundings offer endless possibilities for family activities and serious mountaineering adventures. Polona's buckwheat 'žganci' are simply finger-lickin' good.
Here are some proofs... View from the sledding ground by the homestead.
Fabulously rebuilt guesthouse offers accommodation for 12 guests and the neighboring 500-year-old house still waits for reconstruction. I can hardly wait to see what Polona and Drejc will create from it.
Polona and Drejc definitely deserve a 'gold medal' for the reconstruction of the guesthouse. The building is actually new, but is a 100% copy of the old house where grandpa and grandma used to live once they handed over the farm to the 'young ones'. You'll be overwhelmed by the warm ambiance and creatively used old planks which were 'saved' at the demolition of the old house. Today the house offers 2 double rooms and 2 apartments for 4 guests. There is also a spacious dining room where they serve excellent home-made food to other visitors, hikers and cross-country skiers. Amazing level of service at a reasonable price!

We could hardly pick a better location for our short family holidays. There is a sledding ground just by the farm, endless space for play and snowball fights, the kids were amazed by all farm animals and there is even a local ice skating ground not farm from the homestead.

It was carnival time. Here's our penguin, Indian and the boss Archi. We love him even without the barrel around his neck :)

The hosts Polona and Drejc. She grew up on the farm and he comes from the famous Slovenian mountaineering family of Karničars. They own a great deal of diligence, creativity, ingenuity, boldness and patriotism. They are simply great!

For a moment I escaped from the family romance in the valley and hiked up to a popular peak named Goli vrh. The west wind already brought dark clouds, but the summits in eastern Slovenia were still bathing in sun. True winter fairytale and a great half-day tour.

The path took me across the wonderful mountain meadow where you can rent this amazing cottage for perfect holidays far away from it all. How romantic!
We also tried the neat cross-country skiing trails in Jezersko. They run all the way from the Plansar lake until the end of the valley beneath the stunning walls of Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The slopes near Šenk Homestead are great for beginners and the advanced skiers will sweat on the hills in the upper part of the valley. You can rent cross-country skiing equipment at the Šenk Homestead!
