Jezersko can pride itself with one of the best mountain scenery and well-kept cross-country trails. The most suitable area for beginners is the gently sloping terrain around Planšar Lake, whereas the slopes in the upper part of the Ravenska Kočna Valley will challenge serious cross-country skiers as well. The trails are maintained regularly, you can rent cross-country equipment, get some good local food and enjoy the fantastic view of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
How to get there:
Leave the motorway ‘Ljubljana-Jesenice' at the exit 'Kranj vzhod' and follow the signposts for Zgornje Jezersko. In about half an hour you reach the village Zgornje Jezersko. Drive through the village; after a kilometre you will notice a sign for 'Planšarsko Jezero' (small Lake) pointing to the right. Park at the parking area near the restaurant.
If you don't have your own equipment, head straight to the Šenk homestead, where you can rent cross-country equipment and get some delicious home-made food as well.
Here, at the gently sloping meadows between Šenk homestead and Planšar Lake, is the best terrain for cross-country beginners. Below the farmhouse Ancelj and at the end of the valley (under the lower stop of the cargo cableway towards Češka koča mountain hut) you face some serious slopes that will challenge also the more experienced skiers.
The locals take care daily of all the trails: the classic and free-style ones.
With good snow conditions and nice weather it's difficult to find a better place for your cross-country skiing excercise!
