Location and activities

Located on a quiet lane of holiday chalets Chalet Savica has a lovely position on the edge of a beautiful pine forest which borders the garden. Over the top of the trees are views of some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps.

The village of Polje offers two good restaurant options and is just a few minutes drive or a short walk (2.5km) via a scenic forest path to the majestic Lake Bohinj, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia. In Summer the lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains of Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing.

The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best with good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 5-10 minutes drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the Summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking. A 5 min drive from the house is the town of Bohinjska Bistrica which offers a modern water park with ample pool and spa facilities as well as a range of useful amenities including shops, bars, restaurants & bank. There is a wide range of other ski areas in Slovenia / Italy / Austria within day trip distance from the property. 20 minutes drive away from the house is world famous Lake Bled. A ski bus runs during the ski season on days that are suitable for skiing and the ski center is open.

Fully renovated and fitted out in 2019, Chalet Savica makes a very comfortable, well appointed 3 level home for you to enjoy your holiday in Lake Bohinj. You enter into the middle level where a lovely open plan kitchen and dining room greet you. The kitchen is very well equipped and offers a dishwasher, microwave, oven, 4 ring stove. There is a wood burner to keep you warm in Winter months. Also on this floor is a separate toilet. 

Upstairs are three bedrooms, one double, one twin and one single bedroom with additional pull out bed, each room with balcony access. There is also a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet on this floor.

On the basement level there is a large living room with double sofa bed, flatscreen TV, big bathroom with bath and access to a lovely wooden terrace overlooking the garden and views and perfect for alfresco dining in Summer months.

A front garden with a parking area for 2 cars completes the layout of this meticulously thought out holiday villa.

The house offers free wifi connection suitable for browsing and emailing but not for large media downloads.
